Description

This is a 17th-century barn located 50 meters northeast of Tiebridge Farmhouse in Houghton. The barn features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a brick and concrete plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof. It is a low, six-bay structure, likely used for wintering sheep. There are double doors located in the third bay from the left and the second bay from the right. In the other bays, 20th-century ventilation windows have been cut in. Inside, the barn has a queen-post roof with braces, some of which are curved, connecting the posts to the tie-beam and wallplate, along with curved windbraces.
