Description
The Old Vicarage, now a private house, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone early and late 19th-century alterations and extensions. The building is constructed of brick in header bond at the front, Flemish bond on the sides, and English bond at the rear, topped with an old plain tile roof. It is a two-storey structure with a symmetrical three-by-three bay layout, featuring one-bay extensions on each side from the early and late 19th century.
The front facade is highlighted by a central six-panelled half-glazed door set within an arched opening that has a radiating fanlight, a panelled reveal, and a Doric doorcase with an open pediment supported by pilasters. The windows are primarily 12-pane sashes, except for a rectangular bay window with a tripartite sash that dates from the late 19th century. The building also features brick dentil eaves and a hipped roof, with a late 19th-century wing that is brought forward and has a gable. The irregular rear elevations include an 18th-century mullion and transom leaded window. Inside, there is a plain staircase and panelled doors set in architraves.
