Description
The White Horse Public House is a former coaching inn dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and recladding from the early 19th century. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick infill and rebuilding, topped by an old plain tile roof. The building is one and a half storeys high, with three bays and an additional bay. There are 20th-century half-glazed doors, three casement windows, and a wide rectangular bay with three casements. Above, there are three gabled dormers, each with casements, and several cast-iron casements with lattice panes. The roof is half-hipped on the left and hipped and swept down over the addition on the right. A shafted stack is located to the left of the center. Inside, the frame is exposed, featuring a massive chimney breast with a chamfered bressumer above chamfered stone jambs that end in a moulded step. There is another large chimney on the ground floor and a smaller one upstairs, dating from around 1600.
