Description

Gosport Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It features walls made of brick in Flemish bond and has an old plain tile roof. The front of the building is symmetrical with three bays, two storeys, and an attic, along with a two-storey bay added to the left and single-storey one-bay wings at each end. The front originally had a central doorcase with an open pediment, panelled reveals, and carved brackets above pilasters. The entrance has an arched opening with panelled reveals and a decorative fanlight, leading to a six-flush-panelled door set above two steps. There are sash windows in exposed frames under rubbed flat arches in the four bays, with casements in the wings. Above the three original bays, there are flat-roofed dormers with casements. The eaves are adorned with brick dentils. The massive 19th-century Tudor-style chimneys have octagonal and chamfered square shafts with moulded caps and bases, resting on plain bases. The rear of the farmhouse is similar in form, featuring one dormer above two windows in the middle part, which has walling of English and Flemish bond. The entrance is accessed through an open porch supported by four octagonal brick columns with moulded stone caps and bases, which holds up a tile-hung first floor and a flat roof.
