Description

The walled garden, located 50 meters north of Houghton Lodge, dates from the early 19th century. It features rendered cob walls resting on flint plinths, topped with wide tile coping. The garden encloses a kitchen garden that measures 65 meters wide by 95 meters long. The walls are generally 3 meters high, except for the western wall, which is 4 meters high and includes greenhouses. At the southern end, there are timber double gates, with cob and slate stables built on either side of the wall. The eastern side of the garden faces a fading river and has two iron gateways.
