Description

Zionshill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around the 17th century, with an extension added in the early 19th century. The building is timber-framed with painted brick nogging, partially faced in painted brick and partly rendered. It has clay plain tile roofs with half-hipped and hipped ends, featuring a rendered axial stack with a brick shaft and a brick lateral stack on the cross-wing.

The farmhouse has a plan that includes a 2 or 3-bay timber-framed main range with a stack and baffle-entry at the right (west) end. In the early 19th century, a cross-wing was added to the west end, along with an outshut built in the angle at the rear.

The exterior is two storeys high, with an asymmetrical north front showcasing exposed square-framing on the left and centre, complete with straight tension-braces and brick nogging. There is a 20th-century glazed porch to the right of centre, accompanied by a small bow window to the right and a small 20th-century window under the eaves above. To the right, the cross-wing features cambered brick arch openings with 20th-century windows inserted. At the rear, the main range roof extends down as a catslide over the small outshut at the angle with the wing on the left, which also has 20th-century windows. The interior has not been inspected.
