Description
Spinney Cottage is a house dating from the mid-19th century. It features cob walls that are partly rendered and has a thatched roof with gabled and half-hipped ends. The building has rendered gable-end stacks and is T-shaped in plan. The front range consists of a two-room layout, where the left room has a gable-end fireplace for heating, while the right room is unheated. A straight staircase rises from an entrance lobby at the front, situated between the two rooms. At the rear, there is a one-room plan wing with later outshuts in the angles on either side.
The exterior is one storey with an attic and has a symmetrical two-window south front, featuring two-light casements with glazing bars. The central doorway is topped by a later gabled porch with glazed doors. The rear wing has gable ends and later lean-to outshuts on either side.
Inside, the cottage includes 19th-century joinery, such as plank doors and a staircase with a boarded-in balustrade at the top. The left attic chamber contains a fireplace with a simple chimneypiece and a cast-iron grate, and the attics are ceiled.
