Description
Bransgore War Memorial is a First World War memorial cross, built around 1920. It is made from granite and features a roughly-hewn Celtic cross on a tapering square shaft and plinth with a stepped base. The north, east, and west faces of the plinth have indented, polished panels with applied lead lettering. The north panel reads: "ERECTED BY THE INHABITANTS OF BRANSGORE TO THE MEMORY OF THOSE MEN OF THE PARISH WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR FRIENDS IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-18. 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE' ALSO THOSE WHO MADE THE GREAT SACRIFICE IN THE 1939-1945 WAR." The panels on either side list the names of the 23 soldiers who fell in the First World War, while the base step bears the names of those who died in the Second World War.
