Description

Flats 1, 2, and 3, located at Haydens Court (part of the rear of No 19), date from the 18th century or earlier. The front elevation features stucco cladding, an eaves cornice, and a tiled roof, with two storeys and an attic. Each elevation originally contained one window and one dormer. A notable feature is the large, four-light canted bay window on the first floor, retaining its original glazing bars. No. 19 has a contemporary shop front projecting beneath this feature, while No. 20 has a modern shop front in a Neo-Georgian style, also with glazing bars.

At the rear of No. 19 is a red brick structure with a tiled, hipped roof, now converted into flats. This section is an early 19th-century reproduction, exhibiting three-light casement windows. The rear of No. 20 comprises an early 18th-century red brick building with a parapet and a string course at first-floor sill height. It originally contained two windows on the ground floor and two windows on the first floor, the upper windows with glazing bars. A modern central door has been added, and the door frame where it joins the rest of No. 20 has been filled in. Large timber brackets support the roof of the carriageway entrance to Haydens Court.

Nos. 19 to 21 (consecutively numbered) and Nos. 1 and 4, along with Haydens Court, are considered a group of local interest.
