Description
Keepers Barn is an L-shaped row of three cottages dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are constructed of brick, either painted or rendered, and feature plain tile roofs. They are set back from the road, with a pair of 1½ storey cottages on the left side, comprising a two-bay cottage and a three-bay cottage. These are attached to a larger single storey wing that projects forward by three bays and has a two-storey addition on the far side of the front bay.
The front of the left-hand set-back pair includes the two-bay cottage, which has a ledged door beneath a flat hood, a two-light camber-head casement window, and a two-light gabled dormer above the door. The right-hand cottage has a similar design, with a projecting wing on the right bay. On the side of the wing, there is a central pent-roofed porch with a gabled dormer above. The other bays contain irregular small lights.
On the gable end, there is a two-light casement window and a jetty above it. The gable features a two-light segmental head casement. To the right, there is a two-storey bay with a two-light segmental head casement and a three-light window above. A ridge stack is located between the set-back cottages and the right gable wall, with an additional stack behind the ridge. The ridge of the lower wing rises to the two-storey part, which has a stack on the front face of the taller ridge.
