Description

Manor house, dating from the early 18th century, although it may incorporate an earlier core, with alterations made in the 19th century. The house is constructed of blue brick with red brick dressings, stuccoed to the front, and has a plain tile roof. It is two storeys and an attic, with five bays and a double pile plan.

The front elevation features a slightly projecting central bay with rusticated quoins and matching rusticated pilasters inset from the ends. An offset plinth runs along the base. A C19 square porch occupies the centre, with a depressed archway and round-headed windows on each side, topped by a cornice and parapet. A half-glazed door is within the porch. The ground floor has twelve-pane sash windows, and the first floor has five similar windows. A central pediment, the height of the parapet, sits above the porch. Moulded cornices run across the front as far as the pilasters. A coping runs across the parapet, breaking forward over the pilasters, and carved stone urns are positioned on the corners and either side of the centre. Two-light hipped eyebrow dormers are visible on the roof, near each end. Gable walls rise from the main structure and a large paired stack is situated at the top of the outer roof slopes.

The interior retains many 18th-century features, with photographs available from Hampshire County Council.
