Description

The Red House is a mid-18th century house, subsequently altered in the 19th and mid-20th centuries, and now divided into three dwellings. The house is constructed of brick, rendered to the sides and rear, with an old plain tile roof. It is two storeys high, originally three bays wide, though now double-pile with a wing to the rear. The front elevation features a slightly projecting central bay and end pilasters. A rubbed round-headed arch occupies the centre, containing a boarded tympanum and a small casement window beneath, where a door once stood. Above this is a 12-pane sash window beneath a rubbed arch, the upper panes incorporating Gothic intersecting glazing bars. Four further 20-pane sash windows are present. Brick stacks flank the building on both piles.
