Description
A pair of cottages, originally likely three or more, probably dating from the 18th century. The cottages are constructed of Ham stone rubble with a thatched roof; the south gable is plain, while the north gable is half-hipped. Brick chimney stacks are located between the cottages. The cottages are two storeys high and six bays wide, with three bays to each house. The first bay appears to be an added outbuilding, featuring a blocked former doorway and a pair of 20th-century boarded doors set under a timber lintel. The upper bays 2, 3, and 4 have composite horizontal bar windows with central iron-framed opening lights. Bay 5 has a 19th-century horizontal bar casement window, and the ground floor of bays 2, 3, 4, and 5 have small-pane casement windows of three lights each. Bay 6 has a horizontal-bar casement window set in a segmental-arched opening. Boarded doors are recessed between bays 3 and 4, and again between bays 4 and 5 acting as access to Keepers Cottage via two steps. All openings are topped with timber lintels, except for the segmental-arched opening in bay 6. The interiors were not inspected during the listing process.
