Description

Smithy Farmhouse is a probable 18th-century farmhouse that has been modified. It is constructed of ham stone rubble, with a thatched roof featuring plain gables and brick chimney stacks at both ends and in between. The farmhouse is single-storey with an attic, and originally had five bays. It has horizontal-bar casement windows of three lights, with the lower windows positioned under concrete lintels, replacing earlier timber lintels. Two windows in bay four are grouped under a shared lintel. Upper windows are located in bays two, three, four, and five, set into the roof. A stone and tiled open porch is situated to the right of the lower bay three, featuring a 20th-century part-glazed inner door. At the north end of the range, a throughway leads to a timber-clad building, currently used as a garage, both covered by the same roof. Double-collar trusses are visible within the throughway. The interior was not inspected.
