Description
Thatchers Pond is a detached house with a licensed restaurant located in Donyatt Village. It dates back to the 17th century and has been modified over time. The building is constructed of ham stone coursed rubble, with a west extension made of cut and squared stonework. It features a thatched roof with plain gables and brick chimney stacks.
The house is two storeys high and has a four-bay north elevation. The windows are horizontal-bar casement types, with the lower ones set under timber lintels and central iron-framed opening lights. The upper windows consist of arrangements of 2, 3, 3, and 4 lights, while the lower bay 2 has a 20th-century door in the original doorway, accompanied by an open timber and thatched porch.
At the rear, there is an outshut with dormer windows on the first floor. Inside, the building features a through passage with timber-framed wattle and daub partitions, a large open fireplace in the east gable, and chamfered ceiling beams. The first floor has not been seen.
