Description
Purbrook Park School is a mansion built around 1830, now featuring extensive attached and detached school buildings. The main structure is a square, two-storey block with a symmetrical design, finished in stucco. The entrance front, facing west, has a window arrangement of 1.3.1, with the upper south window being blank. It features a parapet with coping and a moulded cornice, architraves, a plinth, and a large recessed panel containing three narrow lights above the porch. The windows are sashes set in reveals. A large Ionic porch is supported by four smooth columns and two inner pilasters, topped with a pediment and a wide architrave surrounding the door, which is flanked by windows. The south elevation has a similar 1.3.1 window arrangement and includes a two-storey semi-circular centerpiece. The north elevation has a single window on each side, with a slightly recessed center featuring a central arched window above a doorway, and one window on both floors to the east side. Inside, the hallway includes niches, and the staircase remains intact.
