Description
Beechwood House is a mansion from the early 19th century, with a mid-19th century extension at the rear. The building is constructed of stucco, featuring plinths, a first-floor band, and a low parapet topped with a cornice above a plain frieze. It has a hipped slate roof. The symmetrical northwest front has sides that step forward in double steps beneath pediments, and it consists of two storeys with two windows on each level. The windows are sashes set in reveals. There is a recessed circular porch with two pilasters on each side of a plain doorway; however, the front half, which included an entablature above a four-fluted Ionic column, has been dismantled, leaving only the stone-flagged base. The northeast elevation of the main block is bow-shaped, featuring wide central windows with triple sashes. At the rear, there is a lower wing with plain features, and the wing at the southeast end is L-shaped, showcasing vernacular details.
