Description
Springfield Park is a large 18th-century mansion that has been converted into a school. The building stands three storeys high with a semi-basement and features a symmetrical arrangement of windows in a 2-3-2 pattern. It is constructed of red brick resting on a stone base, with stone dressings accentuating its design. The hipped roof is covered with Horsham slab tiles. The central section of the facade, which has three windows, projects slightly and is topped with a pediment that includes a semi-circular window in the tympanum. A stone cornice and parapet add to the architectural detail, along with a stone string course positioned above the ground-floor sash windows, which retain their glazing bars. The main entrance features a doorway framed by a pediment supported on consoles, leading to a six-panel moulded door. This entrance is accessed by seven wide steps, with a handrail on each side. To the west of the mansion, there are two L-shaped stable buildings that are arranged like pavilions at the rear of each side of the house. Springfield Park, the stables to the south, The Cottage, and the estate wall collectively form a notable group.
