Description

The Old Rectory is a house of mid-18th century origin, with later additions from the early and late 19th century. It is built of painted brick walls in a mixed header and Flemish bond, with some other walls rendered. The roof is tiled with double pile brick dentil eaves. The house is two storeys high. Originally a small, symmetrical house, it was widened and extended to the rear in two phases. The north front has three windows, with mostly early 19th century casements featuring reeded frames and some cambered openings. A first-floor band and plinth are present. A late 18th century doorcase, later repositioned, has an open pediment with a modillion cornice, half-round reeded Doric columns, an arched opening with a radiating fanlight, and a six-panelled door.
