Description

The gatepiers on the south-east side of the entrance courtyard at Tylney Hall were likely built around 1902 by Robert Weir Schultz. They are constructed from banded red brick and stone and are connected to the end of the service wing by a short wall featuring diaper brickwork. There is a single outer pier beyond the main pair, which is slightly larger and has a shafted plan. The stone cornice of the piers extends along the top of the wall as coping, with an oversailing cornice on the larger outer pier. This larger pier also displays raised block patterning on the stone banding.
