Description
Nos 52 and 53 on High Street are 18th century houses that have been refronted with stucco on the ground floor and cement above, both now painted white. They feature a tiled roof and are two storeys tall with three windows in total. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and the bottom windows have margin lights. The houses have six-panelled doors, with the top two panels of No 52 now glazed. There are bracketed labels above the doors. These buildings, along with the listed street lamps, form a group with other listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, including Nos 1 and 2 and the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, Church Place, as well as the Red Lion Hotel and No 10 East Street. No 45, High Street is noted for its local interest.
