Description
Nos 26 and 27 on High Street are early 19th century buildings with a facade that features red brick, while the south side is slate hung. The buildings have a slate roof and rise to three storeys. The first floor has two sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath segmental arches. The ground floor is fitted with modern shop fronts beneath a cornice that runs across the facade. These buildings are included for their group value, as they are part of a collection of listed structures on High Street and Union Street, which also includes the listed street lamps, Nos 1 and 2, the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Red Lion Hotel, and No 10 East Street. No 45 High Street is noted for its local interest.
