Description
St Clements Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century extension and 20th-century restoration and minor extensions. It features a timber-frame structure with brick and stone walls, topped by a tiled roof. The building has a timber-framed lobby entrance, with timber-framed extensions at both ends and a stone rear extension from the 18th century. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has three irregularly spaced windows. The roof has a gabled east end above an outshot roof and a hipped west end with a steep outshot roof, along with a shafted stack. The upper part of the frame is exposed, showcasing herringbone brick infill, while the front walls are constructed of brickwork in English bond with a plinth. The east side and rear extension feature coursed chalkstone with brick dressings, and the west side of the rear has painted brickwork with cambered openings. The cottage has casement windows, including attic windows in the east gable and in the front gable above the original west side bay. A 20th-century brick gabled porch has been added. Inside, there is a wood panelled fireplace surround in the Jacobean style.
