Description
Hall Place is a Georgian house built in 1790, with later extensions added in the late 19th century. The exterior features painted brick walls in Flemish bond, a first-floor band, slightly cambered openings on the ground floor, and a high plinth. The roof is a hipped mansard, with a double pile at the upper part, and there is a moulded eaves cornice.
The south front is symmetrical, consisting of two storeys with a layout of 2.1.2 windows and a slightly projecting centrepiece. The windows are sashes set in reveals. The entrance features a Doric doorcase with an open pediment, three plain columns, and an arched opening that includes a radiating fanlight and panelled reveals. The door is six-panelled, with two top panels glazed, and is accessed by a flight of eight stone steps that curl outwards at the bottom, complemented by wrought-iron rails.
At the rear, there is a service wing extending from the west end, which has plain vernacular features and a solid verandah. The eastern side is a later addition with a tile-hung upper floor. Inside, the house includes a staircase and panelled doors within architraves.
