Description

Ropley Grove is a Georgian house with a neo-Georgian addition to the north, dating from the 18th century and around 1900. The building features walls of red brickwork in Flemish bond, a parapet with stone coping, a moulded cornice, rubbed flat arches, and a first-floor band. It has a steep half-hipped slate roof, with a nipped tile roof on the later section.

The south elevation is two storeys high and has a symmetrical arrangement of windows: two, one, and one. There is a projecting centrepiece where the wall is brought forward at the ground floor on the east side, which has two windows. The windows are sashes set in reveals. A Victorian gabled brick porch with a reused classical doorcase is also present.

The north front, which serves as the entrance, is symmetrical and consists of two storeys and an attic with five windows. It features similar architectural details, including eaves and an arched doorway made of rusticated brickwork, adorned with swags, a fanlight, and a six-panelled door.

The west elevation is two storeys and has three sets of windows, with the south side being bow-shaped. There is also an irregular group of single-storeyed service wings at the east end, which includes an open verandah supported by four columns on the south (garden) side.
