Description

Dover Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with early 17th, 18th, and 20th-century additions. The walls are mainly rendered, with some painted brickwork in a Flemish bond pattern, and a 20th-century north gable. The roof is thatched, with eyebrow dormers. Originally a small timber-framed house of three bays, including a central open hall, it underwent changes over time. A fireplace and a first floor were inserted in the early 17th century, the exterior was clad in the 18th century, and extensions were added at each end in the 20th century. The main, east-facing elevation has one storey and an attic, with a two-over-three window arrangement. It features casement windows and two plain doorways. The interior timber framework reflects the different phases of construction.
