Description

Exeter House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a 20th-century rear extension creating a triple-pile arrangement, and subsequent alterations. The walls are of brindle brickwork in Flemish bond, with flush red dressings, quoins, rubbed flat arches, a first-floor band, and a deep plinth. A former doorway, now blocked, has been filled with a window, and a later doorway was created on the east side. The hipped tile roof has a moulded wood eaves cornice. The north front is regular, with two storeys and four windows. It features 20th-century mullion and transom windows. A 18th-century six-panel door (with two glazed upper panels) has 20th-century pilasters and sits beneath a wide canopy, giving access to a raised platform that is approached by side steps. The rear has had 20th-century wings added, with the upper parts tile-hung.
