Description

Cavalier Cottage is a 17th-century structure with early 19th-century and modern additions, situated on Milking Pen Lane near Old Basing. Originally appearing as a granary or cart-shed in its eastern block, it was later extended in the early 19th century to form a single-story cottage with an attic. A two-story western block, built more recently, incorporates reclaimed timbers and features a projecting hexagonal staircase. The roof is tiled, with two small gabled dormers. The exposed framing is brick-nogged, while other walls are brick (in a Monk bond pattern) with a plinth and some tile-hanging. Modern casement windows and boarded doors are present.
