Description

Originally a weaver's house, it was later converted to a granary and oasthouses, and is now divided into cottages. The structure dates to 1607, with extensions added in the late 18th century and restoration work in the 20th century. The ground floor is constructed of 18th-century brick in English bond, resting on a brick and stone plinth. The first floor features 17th-century square panel framing with midrails, gunstock jowled posts, and a rendered infill. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The building is two stories high, with eight windows, mostly 20th-century casements. The front gable displays a carved bressumer dated 1607 on the end posts, and the ground floor retains an original wooden window with diamond mullions. The southwest side has four 20th-century wooden casements and inserted 20th-century doors. At the northwest end are two late 19th-century oasts with pyramidal tiled roofs – the cowl and fantail are missing – a cogged eaves cornice, two 20th-century casements, and cross and S-shaped iron ties.
