Description

Ryecroft is a house dating from the 16th century, which was later refronted and adapted into three cottages in the late 18th century. The house is timber-framed and has a ground floor clad in weatherboarding, with tile hanging above. The roof is tiled, with a brick ridge stack and an external brick chimneystack on the left-hand side. There is an outshut to the rear.

The house is two storeys high with three windows on the first floor, each with 16 panes. The ground floor windows are casements. Inside, original features from the 16th century remain, including roll-moulded beams, jowled posts, and floorboards. An 18th-century winder staircase is also present. According to records, part of the roof is dated 1763. The visible 18th-century roof structure lacks a purlin, featuring pegged rafters and no ridgepiece.
