SU 65 NE SHERFIELD ON LODDON WILDMOOR 6/71 Moulshay House

II

C15, C16, early C19, and modern. Two storeys. Remains of a late medieval timber-framed hall, with later additions and brick cladding. Large hipped tile roof, shafted stack. The frame (revealed inside) has one cross wall of cruck construction, the next bay having a cambered beam (originally a clear span) with missing arch braces. The massive chimney breast is attached to the outside of the frame (with staircase on one side and entrance on the other) and beyond it is a further (C18) bay. External walling is in red brick, English bond in the middle part and Flemish on the addition, first-floor band, cambered ground-floor openings. Casements. Boarded door in solid frame, enclosed in a modern brick porch.
