Description

Moulshay House is a building that dates from the 15th century, 16th century, early 19th century, and includes modern elements. It stands two storeys high and features the remains of a late medieval timber-framed hall, with later additions and brick cladding. The house has a large hipped tile roof and a shafted chimney stack. Inside, the timber frame is visible, with one cross wall constructed of cruck timbers. The next bay contains a cambered beam that was originally a clear span but now has missing arch braces. A massive chimney breast is attached to the outside of the frame, with a staircase on one side and an entrance on the other. Beyond this is an additional bay from the 18th century. The external walls are made of red brick, with English bond in the middle section and Flemish bond on the addition. There is a first-floor band and cambered openings on the ground floor. The windows are casements, and there is a boarded door set in a solid frame, which is enclosed by a modern brick porch.
