Description

The pond basin located to the southeast of Sherfield School, formerly known as North Foreland Lodge School, is a Grade II listed structure. It may have been constructed for Buckfield House, the earlier residence on the site around 1864, or possibly built between 1896 and 1899 for Sherfield Manor. The pond basin is quatrefoil-shaped, featuring a brick base with curved stone coping. At its center is a terracotta fountain designed as an urn filled with flowers, which rises from a fluted circular base. This 19th-century pond basin with fountain remains unaltered and is associated with the main house.
