Description
Browning Hill is a building that dates from the 16th century, with early 19th century and 20th century alterations. It is a small, late-medieval, two-bay timber-framed hall that stands two storeys high with an attic. The building features a thatched roof with eyebrow dormers. While some of the timber framing is exposed, the lower part of the original structure has been clad in red brick laid in Monk bond, with later work closely imitating this style. The windows are casements, and there is a modern doorway. Inside, there are sufficient remains of the original frame, which includes a fireplace added in the 16th century that backs onto but does not touch the middle truss, as well as another fireplace at one end added in the 18th century.
