Description
This 18th-century milestone is located on the south-east verge of the A30, about 110 meters south-west of Ganderdown Cottage. It features a horizontally tooled stone shaft that is cambered and topped with a rounded cap. The sides of the milestone are divided by a central horizontal cut, with the upper half of the surface set back slightly. The north-east face has painted lettering that reads "17 STOCKBRIDGE" and "13 to WINCHESTER," while the south-western face displays "50 to LONDON." Additionally, a cusped surface on the arris indicates "4 to Basingstoke." The shaft shows some wear along the arris.
