Description
This building is a barn and byre, formerly a cartshed, located 30 yards south-east of Garden Cottage at Hoddington Farm. It dates from the early 18th century to the early 19th century. The structure features six bays and one aisle, with a timber frame that rests on brick bases. It has an old tile roof that is half-hipped at both ends and fully hipped above the entrance, supported by cantilevered struts. The external walling, which is independent of the frame, is made of red brick in Monk bond, dating from the later period. At the west end, there is a lower, narrower timber-framed structure with a tile roof that is hipped at the west end, and its walling consists of concrete blocks between the exposed frame.
