Description

SU 74 NW UPTON GREY HODDINGTON PARK 17/7 Barn and byre (former cartshed) 30 yds south-east of Garden Cottage at Hoddington Farm

Early C18, early C19. Structure of 6 bays and one aisle, the timber frame (including the aisle bays) resting on brick bases. Old tile roof, ½-hipped at ends with a full hip above entrance, cantilevered on struts. The external walling (independent of the frame) is in red brickwork (of the later period) in Monk bond. Attached at the west end is a lower narrower timber-framed structure, with a tile roof, hipped at the west end, the walling being concrete blocks between the exposed frame.
