Description
Compton House is a two-storey timber-framed building that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with modern additions. The building features an early 19th-century facade facing the road, which includes three windows. It has an old tiled roof with gables, hips, and half-hips, and a modern entrance extension on the north side that has been brought down to a low eaves. The roadside front displays brick dentil eaves. Some of the gables reveal exposed timber-framing, while the walls are primarily constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring cambered openings on the ground floor. A large tapered chimney stack is located at the south end. The windows are casements, and a small modern bow window has replaced the central door on the roadside front. There is also a new entrance on the east side.
