Description
The barn at Zell House Farm, located 60 yards south-west of the house, dates from the 17th century and later. It features a five-bay timber frame with aisles on all sides. The structure includes a heavy truss with arch-braced purlins that are jointed to the main rafters, and it has Queen posts. Five of the posts have been replaced in their lower parts by brick piers. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, displaying scalloped patterns on the north end, and there is a hip above the entrance as well as a gable for a later hay-loft door, which has a cill at eaves level. The walls are constructed of brickwork from several periods, with some vent slots filled in.
