Description
The barn at London Road House is a former barn from the late 17th century that is now used for domestic purposes. It features whitened brickwork and a brick nogged timber frame with a slate roof. The building is single storey, with a later added floor over part of the area. It has five bays and 14 panels in small framing, supported by angle braces. The entrance side, facing southwest, is constructed of brickwork and includes a small timber-framed outshut at the northwest end. There are four flush casement windows with one to two lights and two framed and battened doors.
Inside, there is one truss with queen posts supporting a high collar and raking struts above. A second truss has raking struts extending from the tie beam and lacks a collar. The trusses are bracketed to the wall posts, and the interior also features old purlins, wind braces, and a ridge tree. Although the current upper floor was recently added, there was an earlier loft floor in the area of the queen post truss.
