Description
London Road House is a late 17th-century cottage that has undergone some alterations. It features a brick nogged and plastered timber frame with brickwork and a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic, consisting of two bays with ten panels in small framing and angle braces. The front entrance has a boarded and studded door, sheltered by a rustic thatched porch. The ground floor has two-light flush casements set between the frame members, while the upper windows are located in thatched, curved-topped dormers and in the gables. The east gable is entirely made of brickwork, and there is an addition at the rear (south-west). The cottage has added wooden eaves gutters and gable end stacks. Inside, there are exposed timbers in the internal cross walls, bevelled beams, and exposed purlins and wind braces at the first floor level.
