Description
Booth Bed Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and has a slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall and has two bays, with a two-storey wing to the north and a single-storey lean-to to the south. A two-storey, two-bay rear wing to the east completes the "T" shaped plan. There are two-course-deep brick bands at the first and second floor levels. The entrance features a door with three narrow raised and fielded panels and three narrow bead and flush panels, set in a chamfered frame with external lining and architrave. This door is sheltered by a 19th-century brick gabled porch that has a semicircular-headed rebated and chamfered opening, along with a shaped barge board and finial. The windows are three-light flush casements with stepped brick labels, and the north extension has matching windows, though there are alterations at the south-west corner. The gable end includes stacks and barge boards. Inside, the farmhouse features bevelled beams and some cased beams, wide boarded doors at three levels, a staircase with splat balusters, and exposed bevelled purlins.
