Description

Messengers Cottage is a timber-framed house dating from the 16th century, with early 19th-century additions and alterations. It is a one-storey and attic building with a thatched roof, which is half-hipped at the ends and has a catslide above a forward projection. Eyebrow dormers are present, with cills at eaves level. The timber frame is exposed on the north and east sides, with brick infilling; the remaining walls are brick, incorporating both English and Flemish Garden Wall bond. Casement windows are visible, and there is a boarded door set within a solid frame.
