Description
This is a farmhouse, possibly dating back to the 16th century or earlier, with significant work carried out in the first half of the 17th century and later alterations in the mid-to-late 20th century. The original timber frame is now either tile-hung or has been replaced with 20th-century timber, with brick sections also present. The roof is tiled and features a brick stack. The building is originally three bays wide, with a left-hand bay added later. Modern rear extensions are not considered particularly significant. 20th-century windows have been installed. The main entrance is at the rear of the property. The front elevation, overlooking the courtyard, has windows with one or two lights on the ground floor, and two gabled dormers with weatherboard cladding and four lights each. The roof is half-hipped at the left end and has a multiple-flue ridge stack between the two right-hand bays. Inside, on the first floor, some original timber-framing remains, including wall plates, roof timbers, and wind braces. The right-hand room contains a 17th-century fireplace with a chamfered arched surround and a decorative plaster panel above, which depicts a royal coat of arms surrounded by flowers and foliage.
