Description
Hollington Cross Cottage and Forge Cottage is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the mid-17th century and has had some alterations in the 19th century. The structure features a timber frame with red brick infill panels, although some walls have been rebuilt or faced in brick, particularly the painted entrance front. The roof is covered with plain tiles and is half-hipped, except for the front gable of the cross range. A brick ridge stack is present. The main range has two gabled dormers at the front. The building is single storey with an attic and has an L shape, with a cross range of two framed bays that projects at the left end of the main range. The main range has been refronted in brick, while the rear shows the exposed frame. Access is provided through an open lean-to porch located at the angle with the cross range, and there is a second doorway on the right side of the main range featuring a vertical board door. The 19th-century windows are two-light timber casements with horizontal bars, while the left-hand dormer contains an 18th-century two-light casement with glazing bars arranged in a 4 by 5 pane configuration. The interior has not been inspected.
