Description
This is an 18th-century house, originally partly used as a shop, with alterations and extensions dating to the 19th century and the late 19th or early 20th century. The walls are of rendered brick, topped with a clay tile roof, featuring a brick dentil eaves course. Brick stacks with set-offs are located externally on both sides.
The original layout was likely L-shaped, with the rear north-east wing probably forming part of the original house. A further rear wing is likely from the 19th century. A large shop extension was added to the front in the late 19th or early 20th century.
The west front is symmetrical, with three bays, featuring 12-pane sash windows. The central first-floor window and doorway have been blocked. The ground-floor window on the right was removed for the shop extension, which now covers the entire front ground storey except for the left-hand window. This shop has a twin-span roof with a gabled front and a shop window. Sash windows are present on the sides of the building.
The interior joinery is primarily 19th century. The two front rooms have chamfered ceiling beams with cyma stops; the right-hand room contains a large blocked fireplace. A simple staircase with stick balusters is also present.
