Description
The Old House (Edrington) is an 18th-century building with later alterations around 1900. The house has retained its north and west elevations largely intact, while the south front has been modified in style during the later period when significant extensions were added to the east side. The north and west fronts are two storeys high with an attic, featuring a symmetrical arrangement of five windows. The steep hipped tile roof has a modillion eaves cornice and two flat-roofed dormers. The walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches, a first-floor band, and a plinth. The windows are sashes in exposed frames, with three upper windows on the north front being original and having thick glazing bars. Two windows on this front are painted blanks, and the central ground-floor window has been filled with brickwork, possibly indicating a former entrance. The south front features a half hexagonal two-storeyed bay on the west side, while the other windows are arranged irregularly but closely follow the original design. On the east side, there is a large brick porch with a stucco Doric doorframe. Adjacent to the wall of the later extension are two pilasters and two columns linked by an architrave band, likely remnants of the original Corinthian porch.
