Description

SU 74 NW UPTON GREY 17/2 Barn to right of Bidden Grange Farmhouse

C17, C18. Five-bay timber frame, with a central entrance on the south side, a north aisle, and a south aisle east of the entrance, with a unit of slightly later period attached at the west end, of 3 narrower bays. Old tile roof, ½-hipped at ends and falling to a low eaves above the aisles. Full hip to projected entrance. Straight struts to the main framing. Red brick walling, except for upper boarding above the open south side of the western unit. Modern small extensions. Posts forming the entrance are inscribed with the dates 1761 and 1789.
