Description
Little Deane Farm is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, built in the early to mid 17th century and later reclad in the early 19th century. The structure features timber framing with box panels and diagonal braces visible on two bays of the northeast entrance front and part of the rear elevation. The rest of the building has red brick infilling or is made of red brick, primarily in Flemish garden wall bond. It has a half-hipped tiled roof with off-central brick chimneystacks and a rear stack. The house is two storeys high and has three windows. The front elevation includes a triple set of 20th-century casements within a 18th-century cambered surround on the ground floor to the left, while some 20th-century metal casements are found at the rear. Inside, the exposed frame shows some diagonal braces, a 17th-century chamfered spine beam with lambs tongue stop, and a restored brick cambered open fireplace. The staircase features 17th-century newel posts with ball finials, a wooden handrail, and original wide rake floorboards.
