Description

The building at 5-7 George Street dates to around 1810. It is constructed of stucco with a parapet and a decorative cornice band running along the top. The building is three storeys high with an attic, and has three windows across the front. The second floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, set within segmental arch openings. The first floor features three good segmental bowed windows, also with sash windows and glazing bars, and are finished with moulded cornices. The ground floor currently has three shop fronts; numbers 5 and 6 have early 20th century projecting fascias and cornices, while number 7 features a modern reproduction bowed shop window with multiple panes. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in old slate tiles, with flat-headed dormers. The building contributes to the group value of all listed buildings along George Street.
