Description
16 Winding Street is an 18th-century house with a stuccoed exterior and a mansard half-hipped slated roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring three left-hand sash windows with glazing bars, a small modern casement window in the centre, and a modern door below. To the right, the roof extends over a corner canted bay that has replaced the original sash window; the first-floor sashes are positioned at the angle of the building rather than projecting. There are two dormers in the mansard, each with sash windows that have glazing bars. A 19th-century shop front is located in the corner, complete with a cornice and corner door. Inside, there is a small, simple dog-leg staircase from the 18th or 19th century with turned newels. Number 16, along with Number 16 The Bourne, forms a group.
