Description

WOKINGHAM DENMARK STREET SU 8168 SW (South side) 19/13 The Duke's Head Public House 2.5.74 G.V. II House, now public house. C18, with C19 crosswing, altered late C20. Brick painted, tile gabled roof. Rectangular open plan, with crosswing on east, gabled to road; and late C20 porch entrance set back on left return wall. 2 storeys and cellar. 2 chimneys with offset heads on ridge of C18 part. Black painted plinth, plat band at first floor level of right hand section. Road front:- carved bargeboard to one bay left hand gable. Sash windows with glazing bars. 2 entrance doors, now disused, with C19, 4 large pane window between. The bottom 2 panes have stained, leaded, glass and decorative lettering within the lead reading:- 'Wines and Spirits' on the left pane and 'Henley Ales' on the right. Underneath, a moulded 2-panel stall riser. On the right hand lower ground floor, a square headed beer cask entry.
